Coach Pitso Mosimane Reportedly resigns from Mamelodi Sundowns! The 5 time PSL champion has been allegedly linked with a post in North Africa. Jingles is reportedly set to join Egyptians monopolists Al Ahly or Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca.
Pitso Mosimane has delivered every trophy possible in his time in South African football. This is reportedly one of the motivations cited for Mosimane’s decision to explore pastures greener. Al Ahly president Mohamed El Khatib was one of the first to congratulate Mamelodi Sundowns on completing their domestic treble.
Al Ahly had allegedly set to appoint Italian and former Inter Milan coach Luciano Spaletti. However, El Khatib has been a long term admirer of Pitso Mosimane.
Al Ahly coach Rene Weiler notified the club about his intentions to leave the Egyptian club after the Egyptian Cup final.
“Ahly administration has chosen other coaches on the waiting list and one of them will be negotiated in the event that the contract with Pitso Mosimane who is the closest to taking the job fails,” a source close to Al Ahly said.
“The new coach will be confirmed on Thursday.”
According to a TimesLive source, the deal is set to commence quite soon: “The club he is going to ha asked him to join immediately with the desire that he leads them to success in the CAF African Champions League title.”
“I hope Sundowns will be happy about this. This is a good news story for South Africa. Historically, no black African coach has ever coached these top North African clubs.

Mamelodi Sundowns’ Yogesh Singh denied any substance in the matter: “We have seen these things on the online media about Pitso being linked to Al Ahly. But he has not resigned. This speculation comes because the coach of Al Ahly resigned on Sunday.”
