Cristiano Ronaldo and his wife had suffered a devastating family bereavement recently. He has taken to Instagram to thank the Liverpool supporters for their show of support.
The superstar striker and his girlfriend Gina Rodrigues lost one of their twin babies at birth last week. It was because of this that the Portuguese could not make it to the match on Tuesday.
Liverpool played and defeated Manchester United 4-0 in the Premier League on Tuesday night. On the 7th minute of the match, the entire stadium and coaching staff stood up and gave a 1-minute applause to show support to the player, who wears the number 7 shirt.
He announced that his other twin girl is healthy and survived the delicate birth.
“It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the death of our baby.
“It’s the biggest pain any parent can feel. Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.
“We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all the care and support provided.
“We are devastated and ask for privacy at this very difficult time.
“Our boy, you are our angel. We will love you forever.” He said earlier in the week, announcing the passing of his child.
He took to his Instagram to thank the Anfield faithful for their gesture on Tuesday night.
“One world… One sport… One global family… Thanks, Anfield. Me and my family will never forget this moment of respect and compassion.” He spoke.
