Daniel Cardoso believes that Kaizer Chiefs should have more experienced players if they are going to be successful. The Sekhukhune United claims that youthful players are holding them back.
Cardoso was part of a handful of veteran players to be released by Kaizer Chiefs at the end of last season. This included the likes of himself, Bernard Parker and Ramahlwe Mphahlele, who are all over 30 years old.
The club has gone in a more youthful direction, under Arthur Zwane this season.
“I don’t want to open up a can of worms, but youngsters are not going to win you titles and trophies,” Cardoso said, as per SABC Sport.
“They are in a rebuilding phase, as you can see, [Samkelo] Zwane, [Mduduzi] Shabalala, [Happy] Mashiane, [Siyabonga] Ngezana. They got rid of all the experienced players.
“If you look at [Mamelodi] Sundowns’ team, there are experienced players, that’s why they win trophies season in, season out.
“[Arthur] Zwane has a good foundation going on there, but to win titles and trophies, I think you need far more experience. Especially on the field.
“I mean, they have quite a few experienced players sitting in the stands and at home. And I think that is what has been missed.” He added.
