Moroka Swallows finished last season in 8th position in the DSTV Premiership. Club chairman David Mogashoa is aiming to finish in the same spot or higher in the new season.
Last season interim head coach Musa Nyatama lead the club from a relegation fight into the top 8. This remarkable job saw him retained as an assistant coach to Steve Komphela.
The Dube Birds have made a few marquee signings and have acquired Coach Steve as well, demonstrating their desire for success.
“Long term I’m expecting him to keep the club in the premier division. Obviously, we finished in the 8th position,” Mogashoa told SABC Sport.
“So, I want them to finish on the 8th or up, I don’t want it to go down. I’m expecting him to make sure that the club is now solid, we don’t fight relegation, we are a club that competes for cups.
“We are in the top 8, his first game is against Sundowns, so no pressure.” The chairman spoke.
They have already signed the likes of Andile Jali and Keenan Phillips in the transfer window. The Dube Birds are also in talks to secure the services of Tshegofatso Mabasa and Bongani Sam from Orlando Pirates.
“The market is a bit slow and also if you look at our position, we finished on a very good position that means our players are good. So, there is no need to change players or sign new players every time a window opens.
“Obviously, we have to beef up here and there. So, now that we’ve got a coach, we know that coach Steve is in, he now has to re-evaluate everyone and make a decision on who he’s keeping and who is going.” He stated.
