Cape Town City drew 1-1 away to Chippa United in the DSTV Premiership on Saturday evening. Head coach Eric Tinkler admitted that there was nothing to split the two sides.

The Cityzens took a first half lead through Brice Ambina, aided by a Justice Chabalala deflection. Chippa equalized just before halftime thanks to first half substitute Etiosa Ighodaro.
“I thought first half we let them off the hook to be brutally honest with you, we had a lot of possession that we should have retained to be honest, with the back 3,” Tinkler elaborated to SuperSport TV.
“No pressure on our left centre back and on our right centre back being able to travel with the ball. And then we start forcing the ball, then we start forcing and looking for a pass in behind but there’s no pressure. So, keep the ball, start frustrating them and then you’ll create the openings, you’ll create the chances and when you create those chances then you’ve got to obviously bury them, you know.
“We let them off the hook, then obviously they made their changes. They brought [Etiosa] Ighodaro and [Siphelele] Luthuli on and they had more energy. The youngster [Diego Appollis] had no energy, [Andile] Mbenyane had no energy, so we had a lot of the ball.
“Then that changed, so we needed to play with a lot more speed, moving the ball, rotating it nice and quick in order to create the space, the pockets in order to penetrate. But we kept going long, kept going long, really playing into their hands.
“Sometimes the players take me literally when I complain about something the week before, the following week that’s the only thing they focus on. We spoke about the ball in behind the defense and today that’s all we wanted to play in the first 20, 25 minutes of the game,” Tinkler lamented.
