Eric Tinkler Under Pressure as Maritzburg United Loses Yet Again! Chippa United beat Maritzburg United 3-1 at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium last night. A Bienvenu Eva Nga hattrick was enough to see of the Team of Choice.
Maritzburg United lost their 4th consecutive game since the new season kicked off. They have lost all their matches so far this season.
This puts an experienced Eric Tinkler under pressure very early in the season. Particularly because of the backing he has received from chairman Farook Kadodia.
Eric Tinkler has been provided with 6 new players for the new league season. This was Chairman Kadodia showing the faith he has in Coach Tinkler.
This result leaves Maritzburg United at 15th place, with no points. Their stance is only softened by last placed Black Leopards’ worse goal difference.
“We are obviously disappointed. I feel for the boys. We performed very well in the first half,” Tinkler said to the media.
“We had chances to control the game. We have a lot to work in the next few weeks”
On a positive note, Lehlohonolo Seema and Chippa United grabbed their first win of the season.
Striker Bienvenu Eva Nga, the Man of the Match, scored a hattrick to give the Chilli Boys the win. The hattrick was inspired by two penalties.
Maritzburg United took the lead through Daylon Klaasen in the first half. He pounced on Keagan Buchanan’s skew shot.
Chippa United soon equalised from the spot. In the second half Bienvenu scored from the penalty spot once again.
The striker finished off his hattrick with a fine finish after being put through on goal.
