EXCLUSIVE | Brandon Truter Reveals AmaZulu’s Next Season Targets
AmaZulu FC newly appointed head coach Brandon Truter has revealed what the club wants to achieve next season. Following the sacking of Benni McCarthy towards the end of last campaign, Truter who was unemployed then was roped in as an interim coach. He did well enough to convince AmaZulu hierarchy to have trust in him for head coach role.
Truter was exclusively speaking to Diski365’s Sinethemba Sithole when he said the team is capable of qualifying for CAF Champions League of 2023. “Definitely, I think with the squad and the players at the club’s disposal, Champions League spot is definitely achievable. Top 4 finish that will be a minimum aim this season as well and obviously there’s so many cups to play for, we want to bring a trophy home as well or at least a trophy home,” he said.

“Objective of course for every game, that’s to win every game and get as far as possible. The support, the quality on training, the standard on training, having league winners, having people or players who have won trophies even in the staff, it’s all there, it’s good ingredients to build up for this season.
“So getting it right in pre-season is absolutely important, having said that and mentioning that is because we have a World Cup in the middle of the season. So it’s a congested first round, we have to finish 4th of November. So that means we will be playing two to three games in a week that includes weekend, midweek and then weekend again so we have to replicate that in pre-season and taking that risk you might risk some players getting injured but we also have to push them as far as we can and push them to the limit.
“I’m full of course of a tick and that but Premier’s Cup, it’s been planned for, Legacy Cup is before that after Premier’s Cup we’re going into the league so it’s a tough programme, it’s a tough pre-season as we want to create but so far so good for us,” Truter added.
