Benni McCarthy has been the Manchester United striker’s coach since the beginning of this season. His impact has been heavily praised by everyone associated with the club.

Striker Marcus Rashford has been the deadliest player in Europe of late. No player in Europe’s top 5 leagues has scored more goals than the England international since the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

“I think the acquisition of Benni McCarthy as striker coach has helped him as well, because you heard there Harry Maguire saying about how hard he [Marcus Rashford] has worked.” Ian Wright told BBC Sport after Manchester United defeated Leicester City over the past weekend. 

“He’s come back, he’s worked very hard through the fitness and that. When you look at the movement for that goal today [at home to Leicester City on Sunday afternoon], it was brilliant, and that says to me that someone like Benni McCarthy is working very closely with him.

“He’s improved no end.”

The striker has also admitted that the former AmaZulu and Cape Town City head coach has helped him a lot.

“He has definitely helped me a lot.” Rashford spoke.

“To have attack-minded coaches is good for us in the squad. He is always there speaking to us about these things.”
