Football Fraternity Reacts To PSL & DSTV Partnership! Last week Wednesday was a prominent day in the history of South African Football. PSL Chairman, Dr Irvin Khoza, announced DSTV as the new title sponsor of the Premier Soccer League (PSL). This comes after 13 successful years with ABSA as the sponsor. The PSL and DSTV are in partnership for the next 5 years.

The PSL ended a 13 year relationship with banking giants ABSA. ABSA was the second title sponsor to the PSL after Castle Lager. Castle Lager was the first title sponsor for the Premier Soccer League. This was in 1996, when the prize money was what now seems a mere R2.5 million.

DSTV is now the third title sponsor for South Africa’s premier football division. We take a look at how the news was received by South African football at large.
