Gavin Hunt Explains Why He Wanted Zakhele Lepasa! The striker has recently joined Matsatsantsa on a temporary deal.
SuperSport United acquired the services of Zakhele Lepasa on loan from Orlando Pirates until the end of the season. Head coach Gavin Hunt has given the logic behind this deal.
Matsatsantsa already had Bradley Grobler, Thamsanqa Gabuza and Iqraam Rayners as their strikers, with the latter transferring back to Stellenbosch FC on a long-term deal. Hunt felt as if these attackers have a similar profile.
This created a need for a quicker, diminutive striker, hence the deal for Lepasa. He made his debut against Cape Town City last Saturday in the DSTV Premiership.
“If you look at our strike force and we’ve got very similar types of strikers. We needed something different. I’ve always felt we needed something different,” Hunt told the press.
“And he gives us something different. That’s pretty much how the move came about.
“Of course, I’m not involved in the actual deal. I can only say XYZ, we need something like this or something like that and I think he gives us that.
“It’s still only the start, so let’s see. I threw him straight in, people said I was mad, which I am but it’s but it’s the only way.
“It’s like you sign a player for R50 Million and they say, ‘oh you have to coach him’. Are you joking with me? He must play.” He added.
The club have also stated that they are likely to part ways with Thamsanqa Gabuza in the next transfer window. Gavin Hunt Explains Why He Wanted Zakhele Lepasa!
