George Lebese Begins Yet Another Club Search As A Free Agent! The South African winger announced that his contract with Switchbacks FC has been terminated.
This is due to the Covid-19 restrictions imposed on South Africa. As a third wave of Covid-19 looms, the American President, Joe Biden, banned entry from most countries into the United States.
As a result of this, Switchbacks FC and George Lebese came to the mutual decision to terminate his contract.
“This pandemic has consumed and taken away from many people and now I am a living force of that. Due to the decision the president of the US made on January 26 to close borders for SA with NO EXCEPTION!!!” Lebese tweeted on Saturday.
“I am not able to travel to fulfil my contract with my team and after patiently waiting to see if it opens‚ two months are passing … and the club proposed a termination to minimise risk from both ends.
“I thank Switchbacks for the opportunity to be part of the team. This was honestly not an easy but heartfelt decision.
“As of with immediate effect I am a free agent and looking forward to what is next for my career.”
Many believe that Geeza will now look for a team to join in South Africa. He had been with Switchbacks from December 2019 after parting with Mamelodi Sundowns.
He joined the Brazilians in 2017 from Kaizer Chiefs. Lebese struggled to maintain a starting place at Mamelodi Sundowns.
He then joined SuperSport United on loan before returning to Sundowns and leaving the club. George Lebese Begins Yet Another Club Search As A Free Agent!
