Grant Kekana has been a mainstay at Mamelodi Sundowns since joining in the transfer window. His versatility has been crucial as it allows for him to stay in the squad.
The defender joined The Brazilians from SuperSport United. He is the umpteenth player to complete this cross-town transfer.
He plays as a central defender, right back and central midfielder. Because of this, he is a regular fixture in Masandawana’s first team.
He has been warmly welcomed by his new Mamelodi Sundowns teammates.
“My relationship with my new teammates is good, everyone has welcomed me well.” Kekana said to the club website.
“We have jokers in the team, I’ll give that one to Denis Onyango, Kennedy Mweene and Brian Onyango, before training they always get us in a good mood with a good laugh, that helps us to forget whatever problems we might be having.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to have played with Kermit, Reayad, George and Aubrey before.” He says.
All these players are former SuperSport United players.
Kekana scored his first goal against Kaizer Chiefs. The Brazilians defeated Amakhosi 2-0 on the day.
“During the week leading up to the game, Lyle and I spoke.
“In the previous game he was playing on to the near post and I said to him, ‘play one at the back post, you never know what can happen’ and fortunately I connected.” He added.
