‘I’m Never Nervous’ – Broos On Morocco Clash

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos says he’s not nervous as they’re gearing up to secure the positive results in their first match of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Morocco.

Bafana jetted to Morocco this past weekend as they’ll face the Atlas Lions today in Rabat at 9 PM at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.

Broos says the first game is always crucial and this one is even more special because they’re playing against a nig team, Morocco.

“It’s a big qualifier because Morocco is a very good team and it’s the first game of the qualifiers,” Broos told SAFA’s media team. “The first game of the qualifiers and the first game is always important.

“If you can record a good result, it becomes a little bit easier for the next games because you don’t have to chase the other ones. It’s a little bit different now with three countries [after Zimbabwe’s ban] in one group, so it’s a little bit different but having a good start is important.

“It’s a tricky situation,” he added. “At the moment, Zimbabwe is out and I heard left and right that ‘it will be easier now.’ Nothing is easy. Even the games against [fellow Group K side] Liberia will not be easy.

“We have to play those games and be at the best level to win those games. Again, one more or one less, it changes things a little bit, and if we win twice in September then we qualify, but you have to win twice. It’s always the same thing, you have to win the games.”

Broos says he doesn’t have nerves but he would have been somewhat tense two hours before the game because that’s a normal feeling if you want to win the game.

“I am never nervous before a game, never,” the Belgian tactician revealed. “The nerves start about two hours before the kick-off and then you are a little bit tense but it’s normal because you want to win the game. But real stress, no, I don’t know it.”

Broos think they’re capable of beating Morocco

“Morocco are a very good team but with modern technology you can have as much as possible information about your opponent,” he said.

“We must start to look at many games of Morocco so we know their players, we know their team very well.

“It’s a good team and we have a plan and we’ll be happy if our plan can succeed on Thursday. We know what we have to do and one thing that’s very important is to have the right mentality and confidence because when you go to Morocco with fear it’s better that you stay here.”
