Jomo Cosmos to buy DStv Premiership club status?

The Sekhukhune United coach MacDonald Makhubedu has dropped a huge hint saying we could see Jomo Cosmos in the DStv Premiership next season. Cosmos were relegated to ABC Motsepe League from Glad Africa Championship last week. This shocked the fans of Mzansi football considering the immense status of Jomo Sono and the club itself.

South African football has seen Cosmos nurturing talent over the years and creating the players like Reneilwe Letsholonyane who have gone all the way to represent the SA national team. Makhubedu is understood to be close to Jomo Sono and he expressed his sadness after seeing the club being relegated. But the Sekhukhune mentor believes that Cosmos will come back to the top flight.

“Two days before the game where he was relegated I was with him, during and after the game. He is like a father to me, he is close friends with my father, so you can imagine, even now I can’t believe that this club has been relegated,” Makhubedu told the media.

Makhubedu’s hint meant that Cosmos might join Richards Bay in the DStv Premiership next season. The Natal Rich Boyz were automatically promoted after winning the league.

“Every three days a week I’m with him, so I feel bad for Cosmos. He is like family but I’m confident he will bounce back. He is a visionary, I know he will come back,” the coach added.

“He is always calm. He is five steps ahead of many of us, with the team he has around him, I can tell you that his three boys are heading to Qatar. He had his under-16s playing in Dubai last month. He is backed by big people with huge money but I can’t say their names here. I know he will be back whether before next season starts or the following season but he will either play in the DStv Premiership or ABC Motsepe League.

“Talking to him, maybe I’m too forward but he may play in the PSL next season, either DStv or ABC Motsepe League, not in the GladAfrica Championship. He is very confident and very happy with the people around him. I’ve never seen him this happy, I’ve been with him for some time but I’ve never seen him this happy.”

The last DStv Premiership team to sell the status was Bloemfontein Celtic who gave the rights to play in the top flight to Royal AM prior to the start of the current season.
