José Riveiro Disappointed with Performance of Orlando Pirates! The Buccaneers were defeated by Babina Noko yesterday.
Orlando Pirates lost 2-0 away to Sekhukhune United in the DSTV Premiership last night. Head coach José Riveiro was unhappy with how the match eventually turned out.
Elias Mokwana and Vusumuzi Mncube scored two late goals to give the hosts a win they were desperate for. This win moves them to 10th on the league table.
For Pirates, it was bitter disappointment for their fans as they expected to collect all three points. This is especially after their performance against Mamelodi Sundowns over the weekend.
“Not the first half that we wanted to play, even though we started ok in the first 15 minutes,” Riveiro told SuperSport TV after the loss.
“After that we didn’t manage to resolve the pressing that Sekhukhune proposed in the first period. I think we started much better in the second half.
“My feeling in the beginning of the second half was that we’re already dominating the game, and [I] had the feeling that the goal would come soon. But then we had to play with one player less, but even with one player less I think we have chances.
“Just before they scored the goal our feeling was that we’re going to make it, we’re going to make the advantage even with one less player. But we conceded one goal and it was the end of the game.” He spoke.
Thabiso James Monyane received two yellow cards and a subsequent red within a matter of moments. This saw their technical team make a myriad of substitutes.
“We don’t want to play gross, even with numerical inferiority. We try to play with possibilities in attack, that’s why we introduce [Vincent] Pule and [Deon] Hotto as our wingers, with Kermit [Erasmus].
“I think it went quite ok. Like I said, just before they scored their goal our feeling was that we’re going to make it, that we’re more close than them to scoring a goal, but the goal they scored changed everything and from there it was just trying but not with good ideas.” He concluded.
