Jose Riveiro Has Selection Dilemma Ahead of AmaZulu FC Encounter! The Buccaneers take on Usuthu this evening.
Orlando Pirates visit AmaZulu FC in the DSTV Premiership today. Head coach Jose Riveiro will have many players to choose from ahead of the game.
Sipho Chaine came off with an injury in their last match, against Cape Town Spurs. This saw Melusi Buthelezi make his debut in goal for the Buccaneers after his transfer from TS Galaxy.
He impressed despite not being too busy in the encounter. Now, Riveiro will have a selection headache as Ghana international goalkeeper Richard Ofori is also available to play.
“We had the chance of playing players who didn’t have the opportunity to play in the early stages of the season for different reasons,” The Spaniard told members of the media.
“And that is always good news always. It’s not good news that Sipho [Chaine] got injured, but it was good news to see Melusi [Buthelezi] on the field and do a good job.
“The important part is the number of players that we have fit and ready to compete as the coach must decide on who’ll play.” He added.
Evidence Makgopa also started his first game in two seasons for The Buccaneers. The striker was able to make an assist for the second goal, scored by Kermit Erasmus.
“He played well. He’s a player who has been with us for the last 15 months and today, he was making his first start,” Riveiro spoke after the game last week.
“And considering the behaviour that Evidence has had during that time, which I must say was excellent, he was a true professional.
“So, as a coach I was happy to see him have the chance to play. But that doesn’t mean everything is done
“There’s also competition in that position as well.”
