Josef Zinnbauers Reasons for Leaving South Africa Reportedly Discovered! The German coach had to fly back to his home country over weekend. He departed immediately after the Soweto Derby.
Orlando Pirates granted Josef Zinnbauer permission to depart the squad camp considering “family reasons”. The reason was not disclosed by the club as they chose to respect Zinnbauers privacy wishes
“Following the coach’s announcement that he will be leaving straight after the MTN8 semi-final match against Kaizer Chiefs which was played earlier today.
“Orlandopiratesfc.com can confirm that the Club has granted the head coach leave to go home to Germany.
“Unfortunately, out of respect for Mr Zinnbauer and his family we cannot divulge anything more except to say that his son is in hospital.
“The coach has requested for his family’s privacy to be respected during this difficult time.
“He will be back soon” Orlando Pirates stated on their website.
However, this morning Soccer Laduma reported that German sports newspaper Bild disclosed that Zinnbauers son was involved in a horrific car accident.
“The wreck of a black Skoda Octavia station wagon (is) under a truck trailer. A serious accident happened on Münchener Strasse in Nuremberg on October 23.
“The 24-year-old Skoda driver is in mortal danger. It is the son of Joe Zinnbauer (50). The ex-HSV coach (now in South Africa with Orlando Pirates) is very worried about Fabio!
“Fabio is seriously injured and is in a coma. The police are investigating. How it came to the horror crash at 1 pm has not yet been clarified,”
