Jurgen Klopp Confirms That Thiago & Van Dijk Continue With Rehab! Liverpool takes on Ajax Amsterdam in the UEFA Champions League tonight.

Jurgen Klopp first said that Van Dijk is still on his long road to recovery. The defender suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury after an awful tackle by Jordan Pickford.

He has since undergone successful knee operation following the injury.

“Yes, of course we are in contact. Considering the circumstances, he’s doing really well.” Klopp told the media in a press conference ahead of tonight’s game.

“His knee doesn’t look good, to be honest; it doesn’t look like a knee should look – but it looks good for a knee with that surgery and the time he had since the surgery.

“So, yes, of course we are in contact and he’s doing well, that’s true.”

Thiago’s injury is less lengthy, but the manager confirms that it could be some weeks before he returns to full game fitness.

“Thiago we have to maybe clarify it a little bit.” Klopp said in the pre-Ajax press conference.

“On that day when Thiago got injured in that challenge in the Everton game, there was another bad injury [to Virgil van Dijk] and after the scans it was like one was really bad news and the other one was really good news because nothing was broken, nothing was ruptured and stuff like this.

“But, as we realise now, it was still a massive impact on the knee. The problem is in a situation like that, nothing is ruptured and nothing is broken and that means everybody thinks, ‘OK, you can go after a few days’, but the impact on the leg was that big that it is still not OK.

“It is not massive and he trains from time to time, not in the moment because we just have to realise that we have to go a few further steps. I can’t say exactly when he will be fine, but it will take a few weeks still with Thiago.”
