Kaizer Chiefs and Wydad Casablanca Date Still Not Confirmed! The proposed match has not reached any sort of resolution.
Kaizer Chiefs yesterday confirmed that they finally received communication from CAF after battling to hear from them. The African Confederation proposed that the CAF Champions League group match between Wydad Casablanca and Kaizer Chiefs take place on Friday (19 February 2021)
This of course is not possible as Amakhosi take on AmaZulu in the DSTV Premiership this afternoon. They also have a match against SuperSport United on Saturday (20 February 2021).
Chiefs confirmed that they are still looking to find a suitable date to play the fixture.
“The two main reasons are visa challenges and travel logistics.” Kaizer Chiefs said in a statement.
“Given the three days’ notice to play the match, the club will still face the similar challenges from the Egyptian Embassy because it takes a minimum of seven working days to get approval for visas that will enable us to travel to Egypt.
“Securing flights at this late hour will also pose a challenge given that some airlines are not operational due to Covid-19 restrictions.
“Based on the above, this may have a negative impact on the Champions League game against Horoya AC scheduled for Tuesday, 23 February 2021.
“The club then proposed that the game be played at a later stage, as this will enable us to honour all the Champions League games on 23 February and 5 March.
“We will communicate once CAF have reverted with a suitable date for all involved.” It goes on to add.
