Kaizer Chiefs Back Young Talent Donay Jansen After Unsuccessful Loan Spell

Kaizer Chiefs are showing continued faith in young player Donay Jansen, who was promoted to the senior team last season but spent most of the campaign on loan at SuperSport United. Sources close to the club have confirmed that Jansen has returned to Chiefs’ Development and Design Centre (DDC) to rebuild match fitness and confidence.

Insiders indicate that Jansen’s loan spell at SuperSport did not go as planned, with limited playing time prompting Chiefs to recall him. The club believes that working with him directly will better support his development and eventual integration into the first team.

“That’s where the problem was. Going on loan to SuperSport where he did not play. He is getting back slowly but surely. He is going to be the best. He has got the talent. He is going to be a strong boy again. We played him in defence for game time, letting him go up and down to get minutes, because if he stayed up there he would just stay there,” a source told Soccer Laduma.

Chiefs are giving Jansen opportunities in multiple positions to rebuild his confidence and match sharpness. The versatile player, who can operate as a winger or right-back, is expected to regain form and challenge other young talents in the first team once fully ready.

“He is talented. No doubt about that. He just needs game time and the football mentality must come back. He will be the best again and perform even better than them,” the source added.

During his loan at SuperSport, Jansen made only a handful of appearances across all competitions. Chiefs’ decision to nurture him through the DDC system highlights their long-term belief in his potential and eventual contribution to the senior squad.

The club appears committed to ensuring that Jansen’s return strengthens both his skills and confidence, positioning him as a future first-team regular once he regains full match readiness.
