Kaizer Chiefs Claim Crucial CAF Confederation Cup Away Win Over ZESCO United

Kaizer Chiefs secured their first win in the CAF Confederation Cup group stages with a hard-fought 1-0 victory away to ZESCO United on Sunday afternoon. You saw a performance built on discipline, organisation and early ruthlessness. The Soweto giants arrived under pressure to deliver points on the road. They responded with maturity in a hostile environment. This result gives Chiefs a valuable boost in their group campaign.

The Amakhosi made several changes from their midweek league win over Golden Arrows. Dillon Solomons, Mfundo Vilakazi and Khanyisa Mayo returned to the starting line-up. Chiefs shocked the hosts inside two minutes. Pule Mmodi reacted quickest to a loose ball from a corner kick and bundled it home from close range. The early goal shifted momentum immediately.

ZESCO United pushed forward in search of an equaliser and enjoyed more possession. They struggled to break down a well-drilled Chiefs defence. Lilepo nearly scored with his first touch but headed over from a promising position. ZESCO grew stronger as the second half progressed and came close through Amine Hiver and Kelvin Kampamba. Chiefs absorbed the pressure and defended deep with commitment. They held firm until the final whistle to seal a vital away victory.
