Kaizer Chiefs Provide Update on Thabiso Monyane Ahead of AmaZulu Clash

Kaizer Chiefs have given an update on wingback Thabiso Monyane as they prepare for their Betway Premiership clash against AmaZulu FC at FNB Stadium on Wednesday at 19:30.

Chiefs are aiming for a fifth win in eight league matches after a bright start to the season, with four victories from their first five games. The squad has, however, faced challenges integrating new signings due to registration delays and injuries. Monyane, who joined Chiefs as a free agent after leaving Orlando Pirates at the end of the 2024/25 season, has been a key figure in the early weeks before suffering an injury in training.

The 25-year-old has resumed full training this week, raising hopes for a return. Sources from KickOff.com, however, indicate that Monyane is unlikely to feature against AmaZulu. His recovery timeline also rules him out of Bafana Bafana’s upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Rwanda. Chiefs expect him to return to full action around the end of October, following the international break.

Chiefs will also continue to integrate several new players. Ethan Chislett and Nkanyiso Shinga are expected to feature for the first time, with Shinga having been on the bench in the last league match. Other newcomers, including Etiosa Ighodaro, Lebohang Maboe, Asanele Velebayi, and Luke Baartman, are yet to make their debuts. Baartman is away with the FIFA U-20 World Cup squad, while Maboe and Ighodaro are sidelined due to injury.

Despite these challenges, Chiefs remain focused on maintaining momentum in the Premiership. Their clash with AmaZulu represents an opportunity to secure another win and continue their strong start to the season.
