Orlando Pirates Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou Praises Relebohile Mofokeng After Milestone Win

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has lauded starlet Relebohile Mofokeng following a 2-0 league victory over TS Galaxy at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday.

The win marked Pirates’ fifth consecutive league triumph. Evidence Makgopa opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the first half, and substitute Tshegofatso Mabasa sealed the victory in added time with a header from a Deon Hotto cross.

Tuesday’s match was also significant for Mofokeng, who returned from a knee injury to make his 100th senior team appearance. Since his debut in May 2023, the winger-playmaker has contributed 18 goals and 22 assists. He is the only player in PSL history to win the Young Player of the Season award in consecutive seasons.

Ouaddou emphasized the importance of support and trust in player development. “As a coach and former professional, it’s important to give love to your players. It builds trust and strong values. We are speaking about a human being, not just tactics or technique,” he said.

The coach also highlighted the positive environment at Pirates. “He is in his house. The club management and people around him love him, and he loves the club. That support is what keeps him going. He was fantastic today, and I hope he continues showing the best of Rele,” Ouaddou added.

With this victory, Pirates moved up to third place on the Betway Premiership standings. The team will now focus on their Carling Knockout Last 16 clash against Siwelele FC at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

Mofokeng’s return and consistent performances remain key to Pirates’ attacking threat as they aim to maintain their winning momentum across competitions.
