Kaizer Chiefs Sign Former Mamelodi Sundowns Striker Etiosa Ighodaro

Kaizer Chiefs have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of Nigerian striker Etiosa Ighodaro, ending weeks of negotiations with Mamelodi Sundowns. The club confirmed the signing on Tuesday morning.
The move follows extended talks with Sundowns over acquiring Ighodaro, who has previously been on multiple loan spells to gain top-flight experience. A leaked video of Ighodaro in Chiefs gear had circulated on social media in recent weeks, heightening anticipation among fans.
Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi will now have another goal-scoring option alongside 21-year-old Wandile Duba, who has been leading the attack in recent matches. Tashreeq Morris has yet to score since joining midway through last season, while newly promoted Naledi Hlongwane has also been tasked with supporting the frontline.
Ighodaro spent last season on loan at AmaZulu FC, scoring six goals in 27 matches. This was his fourth loan from Sundowns, following stints at University of Pretoria, Chippa United, and SuperSport United. He began his South African career at Sundowns’ feeder team M Tigers in the ABC Motsepe League after arriving from Nigeria.
The arrival of Ighodaro provides Chiefs with additional attacking depth as they aim to improve their goal output and strengthen their chances in the Betway Premiership this season.
