Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. Confident Ahead of CAF Confederation Cup Opener

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. has offered an inside look at the squad as the team prepares for their CAF Confederation Cup group stage opener against Al Masry in Egypt. The match is set for Sunday at Suez Stadium.
Motaung Jr. expressed confidence that the team is well-prepared after studying the opposition and utilizing the recent FIFA International break. He noted that Chiefs’ experience reaching the 2021 CAF Champions League final gives the squad valuable insight for continental competition.
“We’re expecting a tough test in Egypt, which is well known for its passion for football,” Motaung Jr. said. “Once we knew the draw and the destinations, we had to prepare thoroughly and, coming from the FIFA International break which we have used wisely, we are optimistic of giving our fans a good performance.”
He added that the technical staff have worked closely with the players, putting them through detailed training and tactical sessions. Chiefs have analysed Al Masry extensively, and Motaung Jr. said there is a positive feeling within the camp ahead of the clash.
The squad will be without Gaston Sirino due to suspension. However, Given Msimango, Paseka Mako, and Siphesihle Ndlovu have returned from injury and are available for selection. Wandile Duba, Ethan Chislett, and Reeve Frosler are among the players who will not be traveling to North Africa.
Chiefs aim to make a strong start in Group D, which also features Zamalek and ZEZCO United, as they look to build momentum in their CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
