Orlando Pirates Midfielder Cemran Dansin Opens Up on Verbal Abuse from Fans

Orlando Pirates midfielder Cemran Dansin has revealed the challenges of facing verbal abuse from supporters during a recent league match against Mamelodi Sundowns. Despite his rapid rise in the first team, the academy graduate experienced a difficult moment that tested his focus and resilience.

Dansin has been one of Pirates’ standout performers this season. Promoted to the first team towards the end of last term, he quickly made an impact. His long-range strike against Sundowns last November not only secured a vital point for the club but was also voted Betway Premiership Goal of the Month.

However, not every experience has been positive. During the same match, a section of the fanbase began calling for Dansin’s substitution while Pirates trailed 1-0. In the latest episode of the Bucs Camp docuseries, Dansin reflected on the incident and shared how he processed the unsportsmanlike behaviour.

“The game goes on, a couple of mistakes here and there… I start to hear the fans [booing],” Dansin said. “I was like right here, I even looked, I turned my head to see. Like, what’s happening? Are they speaking about me, wanting me to come off? In that moment, I was like, no man, this is something new… I have never expected this. I can see the fans are not happy. For me, it was like, are those even our fans? It’s not something easy to deal with.”

Despite the incident, Dansin has continued to deliver on the pitch. He has made eight appearances across all competitions in the 2025/26 season, contributing two goals and an assist. With midfielder Sihle Nduli sidelined for the rest of the season, Dansin may have increased opportunities to showcase his skills and cement his place in the Pirates lineup.

The midfielder’s experience highlights both the pressures and expectations faced by young talents at top clubs. Dansin’s ability to respond to adversity will be crucial as he seeks to continue making an impact for the Black and White this season.
