Khune: “Bafana Bafana Can Go Places”
Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune is aiming for more of the same after South Africa’s 1-0 win over 2014 World Cup quarter-finalists Costa Rica. Shakes Mashaba’s troops displayed a great performance against the South American nation on Thursday night, with Andile Jali’s 9th minute goal securing a 1-0 win.
It was a second successive victory for Bafana Bafana, after a 1-0 win over a highly-rated Senegal in the Nelson Mandela Challenge in September,
Bafana Bafana next match will be against Honduras for the FIFA international friendly match on Tuesday night(kick-off 00:00 South African time)
“The past two games against Senegal and Costa Rica we have shown the great talent we have and that if we stay focused and continue working hard, we can go places,” Khune said on SAFA website.
“Anyway, that is what we will strive to do going forward; we have spoken about it among ourselves and all of us have the conviction and resolve to take our football to the next level.”
Khune was praised by opposite number 1 Keylor Navas after Bafana’s victory over Costa Rica, and the Kaizer Chiefs kepper was humbled by Navas’s remarks.
He added: “It is an honour and humbling to hear such words from such a fantastic human being and great keeper.
“The Costa Rican game was my 73rd game in the Bafana Bafana shirt and my aim is to stretch myself to the limit, continue working hard and the rest will take care of themselves.”concluded the Bafana captain.
