Throwback- Downs remain unbeaten through August 19′

The Brazilians remained the only unbeaten side left in the Absa Premiership in October, after defeating Black Leopards 2-1 at the  Thohoyandou Stadium on Wednesday, 2 October.

The Brazilians who had just over come Maritzburg United over the weekend made three changes, with Anele Ngcongca, Lyle Lakay and and Andile Jali coming to the fold.

Downs dominated for the first whistle, with Jose Ali Meza and Gaston Sirino heavily involved as the Brazilians tested the Leopards backline.

At the 25th minute mark, Themza Zwane opened the scoring with a first-time shot following some good work by Meza.

With the Brazilians probing the Leopards goalmouth, defender Chris Katjiukua netted an own goal on the stroke of half-time, guiding a Sirino cross into is own net.

Leopards eventually pulled a goal back on the hour-mark thanks to Mwape Musonda, who finished from inside the box, beating Onyango.

Thuso Phala should have restored parity late on but the former Sundowns winger failed to steer his lob on target with the net gaping as Sundowns held on for the victory.
