Khune’s Contract Talks With Chiefs On Hold?
Soccer personality, Itumeleng Khune, will see his current contract at Naturena expire in less than four months’ time, and, as reported in today’s Soccer Laduma, there has been no action over the past few weeks.
It hasn’t been long since Khune regained his spot as Stuart Baxter’s first choice goalkeeper after a break due to a knee injury. Itumeleng Khune (Chiefs and Bafana Bafana coach) was ruled out of the match against Brazil due to the injury. Following this, Khune handed over his captaincy to Tefu Mashamaite who did a great job at it.
It seems like Khune’s contract talks with Kaizer Chiefs may have been put on hold at present while the club focus on staying on top of the Absa Premiership.
Assumptions are that, maybe the Amakhosi have decided to put any contract negotiations to one side for the time being, at least until they can put the league title beyond doubt.
The Amakhosi are currently 11 points clear at the top of the table with eight games to go, however haven’t been in greatest form in 2015 since returning from the mid-season break.
Khune is yet to concede a league goal since his return to action earlier this month and will be hoping to keep another clean sheet against Maritzburg United this evening.
