Kwanda Mgonyama Happy To Be Part Of Orlando Pirates Family! The versatile defender joined from Maritzburg United this week.

Kwanda Mngonyama was announced as an Orlando Pirates player in the middle of the week. He signed as a free agent, on a two year contract.

Mngonyama is one of four players to have joined The Buccaneers this week. He joined alongside Bandile Shandu, Goodman Mosele and Monnapule Saleng.

“Orlando Pirates is a club I grew up supporting and by the grace of God, He made it possible that I get the opportunity to be part of the Club. So yeah, I’m really looking forward to it.” Mngonyama told the Orlando Pirates media.

“I got a warm welcome from the guys, which made me feel at home. Even though I can tell I’m in a different environment, I felt comfortable throughout. 

“There are quite a few players who have been my teammates in the past. So it was good to see some familiar faces.” He said.

Kwanda Mngonyama’s career started in Gauteng with Mamelodi Sundowns. He joined Maritzburg United on loan for many years from The Brazilians.

A permanent move then saw him play for Cape Town City before he found himself back at Maritzburg on a permanent.

He’s now a Buccaneer after his contract with The Team of Choice came to an end.

“I’ve gained quite a bit of experience with my stints at different clubs. I feel I’ve grown and learnt a few things in the years since I played in this province as a youngster.

“So I’m happy to bring that experience, and I feel I’ve arrived at Pirates at the right stage of my career.” He added.
