Learn from the situation – Castro
Leonardo Castro has urged Amakhosi to process this moment and make the best of it as the world grapples with the impact of Covid-19.
“I want to urge the Khosi nation to stay at home and follow the government’s rules and regulations,” says the Colombian goal poacher. “It is this time when you have to get closer to your family. Mostly, I advise everyone to learn from this change and new normal.”
Leo, as he is affectionately known, is on lockdown here in South Africa and wishes he could be closer to his family in Colombia. “We all want to be closer to our families, especially in a time like this as family members need to support each other,” he says. “I am here for a while now and used to South Africa, but Colombia is my home and that is where my parents are. There is nothing one can do at this stage but to have faith that this will not take long.”
Castro arrived at Kaizer Chiefs in January 2018 and has since never looked back. He revealed some of his dailies under Lockdown. “I teach my wife English,” reveals the striker. “I also do school with the kids.”
The goal scorer was enjoying a good form before COVID-19 abruptly brought the world to a halt. He has scored 8 goals in 22 matches.
“We are at home and taking part in activities, including training,” he says in conclusion. “The kids are enjoying doing new things. We received school programmes before lockdown. It keeps us busy every day and they are enjoying it a lot.
“Training is all about discipline. I take care of myself and follow the team programme religiously. Some days I put in extra work when necessary. With all the training we do, I miss the action on the pitch with the rest of the squad.”
