Percy Tau will have to work hard and get his fitness levels back to optimum levels if he is to feature again and regain his starting berth for his Belgian club, Club Brugge.
Tau sat out some of the Belgium league leaders’ friendlies against Dutch heavyweight duo, PSV Eindhoven and Ajax Amsterdam.
Tau is now a little bit behind his teammates in terms of fitness ahead of the second round of the Belgian league season as he missed the high intensity training camp.
“He is behind in terms of fitness and will have to catch up. He didn’t participate in all the training and that is unfortunate.
“When fit again‚ he needs to catch up if he is going to be in contention to be picked for our next matches.” coach Philippe Clement told reporters at the end of the Belgium league leaders’ winter training camp in Qatar last weekend.
The Lion of Judah last featured for Brugge just before Christmas‚ missing their Boxing Day league match where they won 4-0 over Zulte Waregem to open up a 10-point lead at the top of the log.
The Blue and Black play former Belgian champions Anderlecht in the league on Sunday before facing a blockbuster Europa league fixture against Manchester United next month over two legs. Both games are surely season defining.
