Lucky Lekgwathi Reopens Grootman Restaurant in Southdale Suburbs! The former Orlando Pirates defender continued to show the growth of his business.
In July 2021 Lucky Lekgwathi’s Grootman restaurant was severely looted in Kliptown. As a consequence, he has now moved the business to the Southdale suburbs.
After the restaurant was looted, there was a massive uprising in the football community. The football fraternity took it upon themselves to help rebuild the restaurant.
It was successfully rebuilt, after receiving many donations from the public as well.
“People showed me support and love. Others were donating R10,000, R5,000, R2,000, and so on.
“It was unbelievable for me to look at the money in that account. They were so generous to donate that money and help me rebuild the restaurant,” Lekgwathi said, as per Sowetan LIVE.
Lucky Lekgwathi’s business partner Reza Amod was thrilled to relocate from the township to the suburbs.
“After we got looted, there was such a big outcry from the public saying that they want to assist us to reopen. We took the decision to move the restaurant from Kliptown to Southdale after we realised there was more support from the community coming from there.
“We do a lot of work through the Lucky Lekgwathi Foundation in our community, and they all stepped up to assist us. The support in the south where we live was quite huge.
“Another reason for our relocation was that we wanted to come back bigger and stronger. We then needed a bigger space where we would have a bigger kitchen and sitting area,” he continued.
The restaurant has always received a lot of endorsements from the football space. Lucky Lekgwathi Reopens Grootman Restaurant in Southdale Suburbs!
