Makola Excited With The Bafana Bafana 2nd Call-Up
Orlando Pirates midfielder, Mpho Makola, said he wasn’t surprised by his Bafana Bafana call up and believes it was about time. Bibo has enjoyed a good form for Orlando Pirates this season and has already netted four goals. The 29-year-old was given his first Bafana Bafana cap against Senegal and he scored on his debut for the national team.
“I wasn’t really expecting a call-up, but I feel like I’ve been consistent every time I have played, you know. Somewhere, somehow that must have caught the eye of the national selectors. I think it was about time,” Makola told Soccer Laduma.
“I wasn’t really shocked; I was just excited and happy. It was one of those moments where you say to yourself, ‘Finally!’ I gained a lot of experience being there for those 10 or so days. I got a lot of information.
“I mean, I was in the company of experienced, international players who were playing abroad. Obviously it’s a different environment there and it’s not like when you are with your team.
“You are surrounded by a lot of quality players and there is no room for mistakes. You have to be focused at all times. It was a great experience for me.”
