Mamelodi Sundowns Eye Bafana Bafana International Thabang Matuludi as Khuliso Mudau Replacement

Mamelodi Sundowns are reportedly considering Bafana Bafana international Thabang Matuludi as a potential replacement for Khuliso Mudau, whose future at the club remains uncertain. Sources indicate that Sundowns have expressed interest in Matuludi during the upcoming January transfer window.
Matuludi currently plays for Polokwane City, with a contract set to expire in June next year. Polokwane City holds a one-year option to extend his deal. Both Mudau and Matuludi are included in South Africa’s squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, starting on 21 December.
A source close to the situation confirmed that Sundowns have made initial contact to gauge Matuludi’s availability, but no official discussions between the clubs have taken place. The club appears to be preparing for the possibility of Mudau’s exit. Mudau has reportedly missed pre-season training and several matches after expressing a desire to leave Sundowns. Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos advised Mudau to resolve his contractual situation to ensure he can return to the pitch.
Sundowns are also pursuing Stellenbosch FC’s Devin Titus. His contract expires in June 2026, making him eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club within the next three weeks. Titus is reportedly a target as Sundowns look to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.
Requests for comment from Sundowns regarding Matuludi and Titus were directed to the club’s Head of Media and Communications, Shupi Nkgadima, but no response was provided at the time of publication. The club appears to be planning strategically for player turnover while preparing for upcoming competitions.
