Mamelodi Sundowns Waiting on PSL Regarding 10th League Title Star! The 11 times DSTV Premiership champions are waiting on their prestigious accolade.

Mamelodi Sundowns won their 10^th PSL title in the 2019/2020 season. In many football associations across the world, 10 league titles qualifies you to a star above your badge.

In 2016 The Brazilians won the CAF Champions League under Pitso Mosimane. They have since had a star on their badge for this achievement.

However, the club applied for yet another badge after acquiring their 10^th league title. Something they are still waiting for.

“Since winning our 10th Premier Soccer League title in September 2020, it was widely reported in the media and expected by our supporters that Mamelodi Sundowns would add a star to its badge that would symbolise its 10 PSL titles; as is common practice in leagues on the continent and across the world.” The club said in a statement.

“Due to the unprecedented nature of our achievement, there had not been any previous provision in the PSL rules to deal with the awarding of this accolade.

“Mamelodi Sundowns presented this to the PSL at the close of the 2019/2020 season, and we are still awaiting permission to place a ‘10th title star’ on our badge.

“We thank all our Masandawana family for your unwavering support.

“We miss you very much and look forward to welcoming you back at the stadiums when COVID-19 regulations permit.

“The Sky is the Limit.” The statement concludes.

Should they receive the star, it is likely to sit at the back of their collar rather than on top of their badge. This is because their CAF Champions League star already sits there.
