Mandla Ncikazi Says Their Objective Is to Make It to The Next Round! The Buccaneers tackle lowly opposition later today.
Orlando Pirates host Venda Football Academy in the Nedbank Cup tonight. Assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi has claimed their only goal is to qualify to the next round of matches.
The cup competition is famed for its giant killing, with teams from lower division often surprising their superior counterparts. This is something that The Buccaneers are wary of and will want to fight against.
This season we have already seen Dondol Stars defeat AmaZulu FC and SuperSport United so far. Although Pirates did beat All Stars FC in their last Nedbank Cup encounter, giving them some sort of experience with lowly opposition.
“It’s a cup match, the plan and objective are to go into the next round. It’s a very experienced team and we have to create the difference between [the] two teams.” Ncikazi relayed to the club media.
“Being the team that plays in a division below us, the initiative will be important. Control is important, intensity is important otherwise you leave everything to chance where the opponents see an opportunity.
“It’s important to score early, if possible, otherwise the opponents grow up with confidence. So, one; the plan and objective is to just go into the next round” he concluded.
