Mamelodi Sundowns host Petro De Luanda in the CAF Champions League at the FNB Stadium tomorrow afternoon. Co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi wants his players to play their normal game.

Bafana Ba Style are currently losing 2-1 on aggregate and need to overturn the deficit in order to make it to the last 4. In order to achieve these, Mngqithi believes that they need to stick to their ethos.

If they play like the score is 0-0 and not 2-1, then they will not place themselves under pressure before kick-off time.

“We will stick to our playing concept,” Mngqithi told reporters yesterday.

“We are a team that wants to dominate the field and dominate the ball. Dominating the field means winning all duels, winning all our 1v1 battles and dominating the ball possession and chances created.

“We want to see our team giving us what we are used to. It’s no different to a game that starts at nil-nil.

“We always want to score. We always want to win.

“We want to play a high-octane game. Where we have strong elements of high pressing and strong quick short passing.

Mngqithi has been left frustrated and critical of how VAR (Video Assistant Referee) has been implemented on the continent.

“It’s a little bit of a challenge, but perhaps it’s something we have to adapt to. We’ve seen in [European football] when there is something dubious, you expect the referee to go to the screen, however it seems in Africa they choose when they go check the screen.” He speaks.
