Manyama Pens Emotional Goodbye’s Letter For Chiefs
With Kaizer Chiefs in the remaking, they swept away the players that they won’t need in the upcoming season. Lebohang Manyama was among the seven players who will see their contracts not being renewed.
He has dealt with injury concerns these past two seasons and has been out for quite some time. The former Cape Town City star joined Chiefs in 2018 from Konyaspor and played 95 matches where he scored 15 goals. Yesterday, he penned an emotional goodbye letter for Amakhosi.

“As a young boy, you can only dream of putting on the shirt of your childhood club and today I stand as a man that realised his dream. And for that I want to thank the chairman Mr Kaizer Motaung, the football manager Mr Bobby Motaung, all the coaches (past and present) that I played under, the physios, all the team doctors, my teammates (past and present), the Khosi nation and everyone that puts in all the work behind the scenes at the Kaizer Chiefs village and everyone associated with Kaizer Chiefs. I wish all of you all of the best and I always believe it’s never goodbyes, but see you later. Rise Khosi nation [Edited],” wrote Manyama on his official Facebook account.
Before he was signed in 2018, Chiefs were the long admirers of Manyama since he emerged as a young star at Ajax Cape Town. The now-defunct Urban Warriors signed Manyama from Alexander United in 2010.
They held onto him until 2014 when SuperSport United were able to do enough to convince them for a deal to happen. He spent only a year at Matsatsantsa before he was loaned to Mpumalanga Black Aces in 2015. In 2016, he was signed permanently by Aces but they moved from Mpumalanga to Cape Town after the sale of the club to John Comitis who established Cape Town City FC.
At the Citizens, Manyama was arguably at the best of himself as he also won a Footballer of the Season award before he moved to Konyaspor in Turkey. His stay in Europe didn’t turn out to what he thought it would be.

A come back to his home country saw his dream turning into a reality when he was signed by a childhood club, however, his form at Amakhosi was a roller coaster.
Other players that Chiefs got rid of include Samir Nurkovic, Lebohang Manyama, Lazarous Kambole, Daniel Cardoso, Leonardo Castro, Daniel Akpeyi, Kearyn Baccus. The Glamour Boys also put Akumu Agay on sale while they also parted ways with the goalkeeper coach Lee Baxter.
