Maritzburg United Confirm Released Players!
Maritzburg United have confirmed a list of players who will not be returning to the Team of Choice in the upcoming season.
Usuthu are the third team that is seemingly making a reconstruction after Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu also made major changes in their squads earlier this week.

Eight players will be making their way out including the seniors who have been wearing a captain armband:
- Tato Lesoma
- Steven Pereira
- Nazeer Allie
- Riyaaz Ismail
- Clayton Daniels
- Phumlani Ntshangase
- Lucky Baloyi
- Ryan Rae
Tato Lesoma is the young goalkeeper who signed for Maritzburg from Cape Umoya Utd. in August 2021. The 23-year-old shot-stopper has never featured for the KwaZulu-Natal-based team since his arrival. This could be the main reason he was released.
Steven Pereira joined Maritzburg in January 2022 as a free agent after he left the Portugal club – Oliveirense. The Cape Verde international only spent six months with the Ernst Middendorp team and leaves after featuring 11 games in the DStv Premiership.

The veteran defender Nazeer Allie has been with Maritzburg for almost four years now and was one of the strongest seniors in the team. He was signed as a free agent from Bidvest Wits after spending three years with them.
The 37-year-old is still going strong despite the age and this season, he played 19 games in the DStv Premiership. In total, Allie has played 92 games for Maritzburg since 2018.
