Official: AmaZulu Release 15 Players!

AmaZulu FC have confirmed a long and unbelievable list of 15 players that will be seeing their way out of the club ahead of the DStv Premiership 2022/23 season.

Usuthu released players who are arguably the base of the club as they were relying mostly on them from the 2021/22 campaign.

  15. Siyethemba Sithebe.

The players who were already confirmed as the exits before the list was announced yesterday include Siyethemba Sithebe who reportedly signed a pre-contract with Kaizer Chiefs last year. Sithebe has never played for Usuthu since his story emerged.

AmaZulu Director Manzini Zungu confirmed in January that Sithebe was no longer going to be used as an AmaZulu player despite having a contract with the club.

“Sithebe did a lot for AmaZulu. But we must make it clear that the club will only use players who are dedicated to the future of the club. He won’t be used in the CAF Champions League and even the league games, basically he is no longer part of the team’s plans,” he said as per Soccer Laduma.

“We are not happy with how he is moving to Chiefs, his agent and Amakhosi spoiled everything for him at Usuthu. I won’t blame him and we want to send a message that we are not a dumping team. We don’t need rejects, we are a team that represents the pride of the Zulu Kingdom, we must be respected.

“Chiefs sent us a letter that confimed that they are in talks with Sithebe but did not say how far they are with him. There were not formalities because we have proof that both camps finalised everything in December.

“You see this thing of Durban or KZN being treated like they are nothing or their bosses are stupid, it won’t work anymore. We won’t allow that,” added the AmaZulu director.

The most recent transfer they made was Tapelo Xoki who’ll be joining Orlando Pirates when the next season starts.

“Tapelo Xoki has been acquired by Orlando Pirates while Sithebe has opted to not extend his contract with AmaZulu. As for the others, the club decided not to renew their contracts in view of our endeavours to rebuild for success in the forthcoming 2022/2023,” said Usuthu President Sandile Zungu as per Soccer Laduma.
