Midfielder Rodri scored the only goal of the game as City won their maiden European trophy. In winning the Champions League, Manchester City have completed the Treble of the FA Cup, Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

This is Guardiola’s second Treble, after completing one in his first season in football with FC Barcelona in 2009. He is the first manager in men’s football to complete a European Treble on more than one occasion.

“Sometimes it looks like this competition this year, this final was written in the stars,” he told the media, after the victory.
