Modise Retires From Banyana Banyana
Portia Modise the Banyana Banyana striker resigned from the national team on Tuesday. The announcement was made at the SAFA house in Nasrec by the South African Football Association.
Modise is the first African soccer player to have scored over a 100 goals for her country. She got the boys on their toes. She is going to Pursue her coaching qualification and FIFA will be monitoring her in the field of coaching.
Danny Jordan, president of SAFA said that Modise will also be the brand ambassador for the South African football. Modise said she is humbled to have helped a lot of women realise what they are capable of, that they can only do what a man can do on a soccer field.
The emotional Modise said she was proud of her achievements and the fact that she could make her team and Africa proud.
She also mentioned that soccer has changed her life for the better. She would love to see other young women follow in her foot steps.
