Olisa Ndah Faces Key Months as Orlando Pirates Contract Enters Final Stretch

Orlando Pirates defender Olisa Ndah is entering a decisive period as his contract approaches its expiry at the end of the season. The 27-year-old former Akwa United centre-back is expected to engage in talks over a potential new deal before the end of the month, according to Soccer Laduma.

Ndah has struggled with injuries during his time at Pirates, limiting his appearances. Despite this, sources suggest the club is keen to keep him, with first preference given to the Buccaneers before he considers offers from other teams. As he enters the last six months of his contract, Ndah could legally sign a pre-contract with another club, but current indications are that Pirates remain his primary destination.

Since joining Orlando Pirates in 2021, Ndah has returned to full training and is preparing to reclaim his place in the squad. In the first half of the season, head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou relied on the central defensive pairing of Lebone Seema and Mbekezeli Mbokazi. Mbokazi’s recent move to Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire has created opportunities for Ndah to stake his claim for a starting role.

Competition at centre-back remains strong. Mpho Chabatsane, recently signed from Marumo Gallants, Thabiso Sesane, and captain Nkosinathi Sibisi are all in contention for playing time. Ndah will need consistent performances in the second half of the season to increase his chances of securing a new contract.

With Pirates still chasing their first league title since 2012, every appearance will count. Ndah’s form and fitness in the coming months could be crucial, both for his personal future and the club’s ambitions this season. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Ndah to see if he can re-establish himself as a key figure in the Buccaneers’ defence.
