Owen Da Gama Wants To See That Fighting Spirit! The TS Galaxy head coach was elated to grab all 3 points against Swallows.
The Rockets defeated The Dube Birds 2-1 at the Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday. Goals by Lindokuhle Mbatha and Bevan Fransman cancelled out Ruzaigh Gamaldien’s opener from the penalty spot.
TS Galaxy brought an end to Swallows’ unbeaten streak in the DSTV Premiership. Head coach Owen Da Gama was very happy that his team fought till the very end to grab all 3 points on the day.
“I’m proud of the boys.” Da Gama said to the media after the game.
“We went down because of the penalty and then we were given our own and got cancelled. From a penalty, it becomes a corner kick.
“Against all adversity, the boys kept on fighting. That’s what we want to see. We want to see that work ethic. We want to see that fighting spirit,” he added.
Above all this, Da Gama believes that his side were technically better and deserve all 3 points. The coach says they followed the game plan to the tee.
“It was going to be tough against Swallows. They have had five or six penalties already this season.
“We knew we are up against it. We didn’t want to play the offside trap.
“Tactically we were on top of them from the first minutes. We had 10 shots at goal in the first half.
“That tells you how dominant we were in the first half,” Da Gama continued.
Their next task is a match against SuperSport United tomorrow. The last time these two sides met Zipho Dlangalala was at the helm of The Rockets.
They lost 3-1 at The Mbombela Stadium.
“No one can take away that fighting spirit. They can take it everything but not the fighting spirit.
“I’m very happy with the results. I’m taking my hat off to the technical team and most importantly hat off to the players, support staff, and the technical team.
“At TS Galaxy we are together. This victory is for everybody.” Da Gama concluded. Owen Da Gama Wants To See That Fighting Spirit!
