Pep Guardiola’s Man City Win Their First Game Of The Season. The Cityzens were commanding in their 3-1 defeat of Wolverhampton Wonderers. This was the ideal start as City begins the long road to a possible title victory. With Liverpool winning their opening two games, City is fully aware that they need to match that feat.

Manchester City took on Wolves in the second Monday night Premier League fixture last night. After an extended run in the UEFA Champions League last season, City played their first game a week after everyone else.

Pep Guardiola’s side ran riot at the Molineux Stadium. Wolves looked depleted and completely out of shape. After Roman Saiss fouled midlfielder Kevin De Bruyne in the penalty area, the Belgian stepped up to give his side a deserved 1-0 lead.

City doubled their advantage in the second half when a quintessentially slick Man City move put Raheem Sterling clean through on goal. The England international unselfishly set up youngster Phil Foden to put the ball into a goalless net for 2-0. That’s how the first half ended.

The second half saw a much better display from the hosts. Wolves were more resilient and were able to play in their usual manner. They created two clear opportunities which were squandered. Firstly, Daniel Podence missed the target when he was through on goal.

Prolific striker Raul Jimenez also couldn’t find the target when Adama Traore had set him up. Wolves finally got one back in the 77th minute. Jimenez finding the back of the net this time with a consummate header.

City wrapped up the game in the final seconds when Gabriel Jesus’ deflected effort went past Rui Patricio. Liverpool will be wary as Pep Guardiola’s Man City win their first game of the season.
