PSL Superstars & Their Sons!

PSL Superstars & Their Sons! Many footballers hope that their male offspring can replicate their successes. We take a look at the current crop of PSL players and their sons. The young men that bear the “responsibility” of carrying on their fathers’ footsteps into professional football. In the PSL or abroad.

After releasing our PSL Superstars & Their Daughters (pt.1 and pt.2), it’s only fair that we balance things out. This time around we look at the players and their boys.

Having a professional football player as a parent has its ups and downs. The downs are few and far between. Firstly, you don’t get to spend as much time with them in their playing days. Majority of football players spend quality time with their family once the football boots have been hung.

So, in the kids’ early years, they don’t see their fathers as much. The only other down, especially if you’re a boy, is that they’re “expected” to follow in the footsteps of their professional fathers. This creates a considerable amount of pressure on these boys.

The pressure and expectation is unfair because of two things. Firstly, they boys themselves may not have the desire to play professional football. Their father’s dreams shouldn’t be carried down to them. They have the authority to elect their own profession as a career.

Secondly, even if they have the same passion and desire for the game; they simply might not have the necessary talent to make it. Some kids adopt the talent that their dads have, and some kids simply don’t.

So, the cases of kids following their fathers’ footsteps are few and far between.
