Kaizer Chiefs Move to Extend Pule Mmodi’s Contract Amid Busy Transfer Activity

Kaizer Chiefs are not only busy adding new signings to their squad but are also focused on securing the futures of their current key players. Among them, winger Pule Mmodi has emerged as a priority for contract extension talks, despite having significant time remaining on his current deal.

Insiders close to Naturena reveal that Chiefs are keen to lock down the talented South African midfielder for the long term. Mmodi’s performances over the past two seasons have impressed the technical staff, prompting the club to act proactively.

According to sources, although Mmodi’s contract officially runs until June 2026, discussions have already begun to extend his stay. “It’s believed that Pule Mmodi has entered the final year of his contract at Chiefs and all parties are willing to conclude a new deal. Chiefs are making progress on the new contract talks with the winger,” one insider told Soccer Laduma.

Further details about the proposed contract extension are reportedly being ironed out. A second source revealed, “It’s believed to be a straight one-year deal with another one-year option. So the first extension would expire in June 2027, but with the option, it could run until June 2028. All parties are happy with the talks so far.”

Mmodi, who joined the Soweto giants ahead of the 2023/24 season on a three-year contract, had an impressive debut campaign where he featured regularly and contributed goals. Although his playing time reduced somewhat last season, he remained a key figure, appearing in the majority of league matches.

As Kaizer Chiefs prepare for the upcoming season amid a busy transfer window, securing Pule Mmodi’s services long-term reflects the club’s desire to maintain stability and continuity within their squad while integrating fresh talent.
