Former Orlando Pirates captain Lucky) llllis a real people person and has always been known for his friendliness. On and off the field, he was always the right person to talk to if players were seeking advice. Still, he is.
That’s why Pirates still utilize him when it comes to welcoming the newbies to the club. Regardless of where you come from and who you are, if you become Pirates member, he’s the man to make you feel at home.
He recently spent some time with the Buccaneers’ new signings to welcome them as they’ve joined the club in the pre-season ahead of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season. At Protea Hotel in Johannesburg, that’s where he shared a meal with Ezimnyama Ngenkani’s new members.
“Welcome to @orlandopirates the Double Treble Champions,” he wrote on his Instagram account when he posted pictures posing with players.
However, not all Pirates’ new signings were there as only four signings appeared. Miguel Timm, Nkosinathi Sibisi, Tapelo Xoki and Eva Nga were the ones that met ‘Phinda Mzala’ as Lekgwathi is well known.
Except for the above-mentioned players, the Sea Robbers have also added Evidence Makgopa and Azola Matrose to their team ahead of the next season. However, Matrose is understood to be staying at Chippa on loan in the upcoming season.
Meanwhile, the Club also confirmed that the following players will not be part of the new season: Thulani Hlatshwayo, Kwanda Mngonyama, Abel Mabaso, Justice Chabalala, Elson Sithole, Wayne Sandilands, Thabang Monare, Ntsikelelo Nyauza, Linda Mntambo and Tshegofatso Mabasa.
Mntambo left the club for Sekhukhune United permanently while his counterpart Mabasa joined Babina Noko on loan. Sandilands is reportedly going to be offered a role as a goalkeeper coach. Mngonyama is said to be attempting a move back to his former team Maritzburg United.
