WHERE IS HE NOW?

Modise retired as a footballer at Cape Town City and became their ambassador. In no time, SuperSport granted him an analyst job. He ditched the Citizens as he wanted to come back to his home province in Gauteng. That’s when his former club Mamelodi Sundowns saw an opportunity to utilize him as an ambassador of the club along with Tiyani Mabunda.

He does quite a few things at the club as he’s seemingly a busy man. He doesn’t hide his love for Masandawana, remember that he won numerous trophies with the Pretoria giants after a long rough patch of failing to lift trophies while at Orlando Pirates.

He always advises Masandawana wherever they need his word. He sometimes does it publicly. When the past season ended, he gave them a bit of advice on where they needed to bolster their team. “I think there is a need to go to the market. I think Sundowns struggled a bit with centre-backs this season,” said Modise as per Sowetan.

“You have seen a lot of changes in the centre-back position because of the injuries they had. In the midfield, I am sure there are areas of proper balance, but at centre-back there has always been the question of who fits.”

“That became very critical when it comes to the Caf Champions League. If they had consistent centre-back pairing they would have defended a little better in the Champions League.”

“They are team that is ambitious and they will try to beef up, maybe in that department. They got knocked out of the Champions League not because they didn’t play but because of what they could have done better and I think that is the department that they must try and look at.”
